The 88th Ponoka Stampede Parade on June 28 was a 'Salute to Our Stock Contractors.' The streets of Ponoka were lined with fans as the three-mile parade began.

The streets of Ponoka were lined with fans as the three-mile parade began. 

It did not disappoint with a variety floats, vehicles, marching bands, wagons, RCMP officers in red surge and fire trucks, just to name a few. 

Among the notable dignitaries in the parade included Premier Danielle Smith, NDP leader Naheed Nenshi, MP Blaine Calkins, MLA Jennifer Johnson, and Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson, as well as the parade marshal Wayne Vold. 

Local clubs represented included Ponoka Minor Hockey, the Ponoka Gators, the Bantam Broncs football team and much more. 

The entry winners were as follows: 

Professional: 1st place, L.W. Tire and Auto, 2nd, Brandt Tractor.

Non professional: 1st, Bobtail Nursery, 2nd Scovan Inc.

Non Commercial: 1st, Amo-Asikiw Mostos Opikinawasiwin, 2nd Akamiink Family Services. 

Mounted: 1st, Buckshot Bandits drill team, 2nd, Mayhem Dril Team, representing Titan Livestock. 

4-H: 1st, Crestomere 4-H, 2nd, Ponoka 4-H Renegade Riders. 

Heavy hitch: 1st, Calgary Stampede Show Wagon, 2nd, Pigeon Lake Horse Drawn Riders - Red Roans. 

Light horse hitch: 1st, Erminsekin Cree Nation, 2nd, Pigeon Lake Horse Drawn Riders - Sorrel minis. 

Antique: none.

Decorated vehicles: 1st, Gypsy Fringe Boutique, 2nd, Ermineskin Elders Centre. 

Sports and rec: 1st, POnoka Gators Summer Swim Team, 2nd, Ponoka Riding and Roping Association. 

Children: 1st, Little Miss Northern Alberta Ginny Maceyovski. 

Best marching band: 1st, Lethbridge Collegiate Institute, 2nd, The Techno Fiddlers. 

Towns, cities, villages: 1st, Town of Ponoka, 2nd, Town of Stettler.
